Offers Invited
Offers are invited for this 29,474sq m ocean view property with a large face brick 5 bedroom house and two 1 bedroom flats. Plenty of ground for development.
Situated in a small village on the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, half an hour from Durban, the largest port in southern Africa.
The major part of the property consists of unspoiled coastal forest, complete with many species of small game and lots of bird life.
This is a perfect opportunity to develop a small game sanctuary, health spa, bed & breakfast, lodge or conference centre.
The existing house is modern and offers 5 bedrooms, all en-suite, two lounges and dining room, served by an open plan oak kitchen with fitted eye-level oven, hob and extractor. Three of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, with the master and second bedroom upstairs. Both these open to a balcony with spectacular views over the forest and out to sea. Downstairs, a huge covered verandah runs the length of the living rooms, and doors from one bedroom and the living area all open onto it. There is a double garage with auto doors plus plenty of open parking. Each of the two flats is fully self-contained, comprising of 1 bedroom with en-suite bathroom, lounge/dining room and open plan kitchen, with sliding doors to a view balcony. One of the flats has a car port, and there is open parking for cars, trailers, boat, caravan etc.
The house and flats are surrounded by carefully tended indigenous trees and flowering shrubs, and there is a sparkling pool in which to cool off. The kitchen opens to a wonderful herb garden.
A borehole supplies potable water to the house and flats, although the normal water supply from the municipality is piped in to all buildings. The borehole water takes care of all the garden's needs. What a joy to enjoy the views while watching a variety of birds feeding off the fruits and seeds that the garden produces.
Dainty blue duiker are to be seen below the house at the edge of the forest, and daily visits by vervet monkeys entertain. Other game known to live in the forest include porcupine, wild pig, mongoose, genet cats, leguaan, and guinea fowl. Fish eagles and other birds of prey, as well as woolly necked storks and the migrant yellow billed kite, fly overhead, and at certain times of the year whales can be seen out to sea sending up great splashes and clouds of spray.
A short drive from this amazing property there is a world class beach. Shark nets protect bathers on the main beach, and water sports include various types of surfing (kite, wind, body) and "boogie" boarding. There is also a rock pool for small children to play in safety, and the beaches are protected by professional and volunteer life savers. The beaches in this area stretch for miles, and one can indulge in any type of water and beach sport without getting in the way of other sporting enthusiasts. Rock and surf fishing is a passion with many of the locals, and rock mussels and crayfish may be caught (with a permit) most of the year.
The property is situated close to shops, schools, transport, and there is much to see and do around and about, with Durban being 20 to 30 minutes away on a well maintained freeway. The airport is 15 minutes away.
EXTRA: Adjoining this lovely property is a further 18,4 hectares (185,765 sq m) of untouched coastal forest. This is a huge piece of land, and the two properties together total almost 21 hectares. In our area, very little land is available for development, and although one may not cut down all the trees, a certain amount of development would be allowed. These two together would be perfect for a small wild life sanctuary. This additional stand is valued at 440,000 GBP
